Het ligt ten zuiden van Bolsward, ten zuidwesten van Blauwhuis en ten noorden van Sandfirden. De dorpskern bestaat uit twee kernen. De hoofdkern ligt aan de zuidoever van de Opvaart, die van de Workumertrekvaart naar de Bloedsloot en Het Vliet stroomt.De tweede kern ligt even noordelijker aan de Snakkepole. In 2021 telde het dorp 85 inwoners, waarvan 30 in de dorpskern wonen. Onder het dorp valt ook de buurtschap Sandfirderrijp.
