Het ligt ten noordwesten van Piaam, ten zuidwesten van Allingawier en ten zuiden van Makkum. De dorpskern ligt aan een opvaart van de Kleine Zijlroete ten oosten van het IJsselmeer.In 2018 telde het dorp volgens het CBS 220 inwoners. Andere bronnen melden circa 120 inwoners. In totaal zijn er veertig woningen. Een aantal huizen zijn ook in gebruik als logement/vakantiehuis.
