Megchelen is een Nederlands dorp gelegen in de Gelderse Achterhoek, in de gemeente Oude IJsselstreek. Tot aan de gemeentelijke herindeling hoorde het tot de voormalige gemeente Gendringen. Megchelen ligt direct aan de landsgrens met Duitsland. Het is voor 75% omsloten door de Duitse grens. Grensplaatsen zijn de Duitse plaatsen Anholt , Millingen en Rees . Megchelen is een rustiek plattelandsdorp met fiets- en wandelgelegenheid in het grensgebied met Duitsland. Met de Stadt Rees am Rhein wordt jaarlijks een wandeltocht georganiseerd op de tweede zondag in maart. Megchelen telde per 1 januari 2021 965 inwoners, waarvan ongeveer een derde in het buitengebied woont.
