Aan de grens België-Nederland, waarlangs het wandelnetwerk Trage Wegen Wachtebeke loopt (tussen de Oudeburgse Sluis en Overslag), staan verschillende witte kegelvormige grenspalen die deel uitmaken van een reeks van 369 palen. Ze werden over gans de grenslijn geplaatst van Vaal (nummer 1) tot Knokke-Heist (nummer 369). zoals bepaald werd in het verdrag van Maastricht van 1843. De palen zijn uit gietijzer en wegen 600 kg, hebben een zwarte peervormige kop en zijn voorzien van de zwartgeschilderde wapenschilden van België en Nederland.
