Oorspronkelijk was dit huis lange tijd een boerenhoeve. Na de aankoop door Willem Hendrik de Beaufort in 1807 werd het tot een landhuis verbouwd. De toren dateert van 1903. In de tweede helft van de 20e eeuw was er een hotel in gevestigd. Het terras aan de fraaie vijver aan de oostzijde stond in die tijd bekend als het mooiste terras van Nederland. Sinds 2001 wordt het huis particulier bewoond. Zowel huis als tuin zijn niet toegankelijk.
