Het Nationaal Park De Biesbosch is een beschermd natuurgebied. In het gebied van de Biesbosch hebben de rivieren een grote invloed van de getijden. Het is een zoetwatergetijdengebied met kreken en wilgenvloedbossen. Het gebied kent vele recreatieve mogelijkheden maar wordt ook gebruikt voor opslag van water voor de drinkwaterbereiding.
