Het natuurgebied Willeskop wordt ook wel ‘vogelmagneet’ genoemd om zijn enorme aantallen vogels. Door zijn rustige ligging plus hoeveelheid water en voedsel is het een ware vogelmagneet.
Vele vogels hebben het gebied inmiddels ontdekt als ideale rust- en broedplaats. Het gebied kan beschouwd worden als een van de grootste vogelkraamkamers van het Groene Hart. In dit gebied komen veel weidevogels voor; grutto, kievit, tureluur, scholekster, slobeend, bergeend, zilverreiger, knobbelzwaan, en veel soorten ganzen.
