Het ligt ten oosten van Smallebrugge, ten zuiden van Hommerts, ten noordoosten van Woudsend en ten westen van het Koevordermeer. De bewoning van de plaats is voornamelijk aan de hoofdweg die onderdeel is van de N354.Door het dorpsgebied stromen diverse wateren. De grootste daarvan naast het Koevordermeer is de Wellesloot, verder kent het onder meer De Binge, de Boomsloot, De Fokkegracht en op het noordelijke einde van het dorpsgebied stroomt de Jeltesloot. In die laatste ligt een aquaduct, het Jeltesloot Aquaduct.
