Bovenop de Kollenberg in Sittard ligt de Sint Rosakapel. Een klein gebouwtje, van baksteen en mergel, met een grote en rijke historie. De kapel is in 1675 gebouwd ter ere van Rosa, de patroonheilige van Sittard. In 1668 brak in Sittard een dysenterie-epidemie uit die veel slachtoffers eiste. Op voorspraak van Rosa hield de besmettelijke ziekte op.
Het stadsbestuur beloofde daarop om elk jaar, op de laatste zondag van augustus, een processie te houden naar de Sint Rosakapel. Sittard heeft haar belofte gehouden en sinds 1675 vindt deze bekende dankprocessie jaarlijks plaats. In de maand augustus kun je de kapel ook van binnen bekijken, tussen 14.00 en 16.30 uur.
