In de bossen van de Vaalserberg is, verscholen in het groen, een uniek pareltje te vinden. Het is wellicht één van de best bewaarde geheimen van Vaals. Bij de bosrand is namelijk een lourdesgrot gelegen. De Lourdesgrot werd in 1934 gebouwd en kerkelijk ingezegend. In 1990 kreeg de grot een grote uitbreiding met kruiswegpark en Calvariegroep. Het complex ligt op een hoogte van 289 meter boven AP en is daarmee waarschijnlijk het hoogst gelegen heiligdom van Nederland. Vandaag de dag worden hier nog steeds met regelmaat vieringen georganiseerd.
