De kapel is in 1952 gebouwd naar een ontwerp van architect C. Sturm uit dankbaarheid voor het bespaard blijven tijdens de bombardementen in de Tweede Wereldoorlog gebouwd. Het natuurstenen beeld van de patroonheilige St. Antonius uit de gesloopte kerk is in de kapel ondergebracht.
