Ossenwaardpad is een nieuw aangelegd jaagpad langs de Kromme Rijn.
In het jaar 47 riepen de Romeinen de Rijn uit tot de noordgrens van hun Romeinse Rijk, de zogeheten 'Limes'. Wandelaars over dit pad treden als het ware in de voetsporen van de Romeinen, die hier destijds de wacht hielden langs de Kromme Rijn.
Ooit was de Kromme Rijn een wilde rivier, minstens net zo breed als de Lek nu is. Het was een belangrijke vaarroute voor transport en handel tussen Utrecht en Dorestad (Wijk bij Duurstede). Met speciale trekschuiten, de Krommerijnders, werden passagiers voor 8 stuivers en 12 cent van Wijk bij Duurstede naar Utrecht over het jaagpad 'gejaagd'.
