Ossenwaardpad ist ein neu angelegter Ziehweg entlang der Kromme Rijn.
Im Jahr 47 erklärten die Römer den Rhein zur Nordgrenze ihres Römischen Reiches, dem sogenannten 'Limes'. Wanderer auf diesem Weg folgen den Spuren der Römer, die damals hier entlang der Kromme Rijn Wache hielten.
Die Kromme Rijn war einst ein wilder Fluss, mindestens so breit wie der Lek heute. Sie war eine wichtige Handelsroute für Transport und Handel zwischen Utrecht und Dorestad (Wijk bij Duurstede). Mit speziellen Barken, den Krommerijnders, wurden Passagiere für 8 Pfennig und 12 Cent von Wijk bij Duurstede nach Utrecht auf dem Ziehweg 'gejagt'.
