Exloo is een dorp in de Nederlandse provincie Drenthe, gemeente Borger-Odoorn, op de Hondsrug. In 2021 telde Exloo 1.665 inwoners. Hoewel het niet het grootste dorp in de gemeente Borger-Odoorn is, is het wel de hoofdplaats van de gemeente.Historisch had deze plaats volgens diverse bronnen ook wel de namen Exle , Exlo , Exloe , Exle, Exel , Exelle , Exelloe, Exloe , , Exlo en Eksloo . De betekenis ervan is eikenbos, afgeleid van Ekeslo en Ekelo.
