Het Wijboschbroek is een natuurgebied van 150 hectare ten noorden van Schijndel. Het is een zogenoemde natte natuurparel dankzij de bodem. De leemhoudende, natte en voedselrijke bodem van het bos is uitermate geschikt voor unieke plantengroei. Nadat het gebied grotendeels was ontbost, werd het in de negentiende eeuw cultuurgrond met op de lagere, natte delen de beemden (hooilanden). In de twintigste eeuw werd het gehele gebied weer bos met voornamelijk populieren. De populierenteelt heeft de bosfauna en -flora door de eeuwen in stand gehouden en dat is duidelijk te merken.
