Description

Het runnen van een steenkoolmijn vraagt naast veel mijnwerkers ook om hooggeschoolde werknemers. Uiteraard moeten zij ook ergens wonen en het liefst zo dicht mogelijk bij de mijn.
Om die reden worden in 1913 twee hoofdopzichterswoningen en in 1914 een ingenieurswoning aan de Strijthagerweg gebouwd. Het ontwerp is van het bouwbureau van de particuliere Oranje-Nassaumijnen.
De ruim opgezette woningen liggen pal tegenover het inmiddels verdwenen bedrijfscomplex van de mijn Oranje-Nassau II. Ze zijn opgetrokken in traditionele stijl en zijn beïnvloed door de neorenaissance.
