De geometrische vorm van de Wiebertjes is een uiting van landschapskunst: een laaggelegen moerasachtig stuk grond, doorsneden door sloten in een ruit- of 'wiebertjes'-patroon. De landjes tussen de sloten zijn op verschillende hoogten afgegraven zodat er variatie in de begroeiing is.
Voor allerlei watervogels is dit een ideaal broedgebied. Rotta maait op een aantal van deze landjes twee keer per jaar het riet om er meer biodiversiteit te verkrijgen. Ook de houtril langs het pad en de broeihopen zijn aangelegd om het aantal soorten flora en fauna te vergroten.
