Luisterplek Nachtmerrie in Montfort

Tijdens de Liberation fietsroute Roerdalen - Roermond - Maasgouw luister je in Montfort naar het verhaal over de Nachtmerrie in Montfort. Half januari 1945 is de strijd om de Roerdriehoek in alle hevigheid losgebarsten. Na een aantal felle gevechten hebben de Duitse troepen zich verschanst in het dorpje Montfort. Dagenlange beschietingen en bombardementen zijn het gevolg. Burgers en vele tientallen evacués zitten dagenlang angstig in de schuilkelders. Dan rijden de Britse Cromwell tanks het dorp binnen…
