'Tato' 'pani' betekent letterlijk 'warme' 'bron'.
Dit is ook waarvoor Tatopani vooral bekend is. Tot de jaren '80 was dit een belangrijke toeristische attractie .Heden ten dage wordt het afgeraden om speciaal voor de warme bronnen (er zijn er 2: Tatopani en Paudwar) naar Tatopani af te reizen, maar wie er via het Annapurna Circuit terecht komt moet ze zeker bezoeken.
Van hieruit gaat het Annapurna circuit ofwel naar Ghorepani en Poon Hill omhoog, of verder naar beneden naar Beni. Er is hier veel toerisme.
De Kali Ghandaki is vanaf hier werkelijk smal en de kloof dus diep en indrukwekken.
In 2015 werd Tatopani ook getroffen door de aardbeving waarbij in totaal bij na 9000 mensen het leven verloren.
