De Serra de Arrábida is een rotskust die tot 501 meter hoogte reikt aan de noordkant van het estuarium van de Sado. Het kalkgebergte is zo'n 30 kilometer lang en 7 kilometer breed.
Opvallend is het verschil tussen beide kanten van het gebergte. De zuidflank duikt abrupt in de Oceaan. Het wit en oker van de kalkstenen, het groen van de dennenbomen en cipressen en het blauw van de Atlantische Oceaan maken deze kant bijzonder spectaculair. De noordkant van het gebergte vertoont meer zachte glooiingen waarop wijnstokken, olijfbomen en fruitbomen groeien, afgewisseld met rotsachtige gronden waarop bijna niets groeit. We rijden nu door een natuurpark van zo'n 10.000 hectare groot. Ter vergelijking: de Kalmthoutse Heide is het grootste natuurreservaat in Vlaanderen en zo'n 1.000 hectare groot.
Aan het T-kruispunt slaan we linksaf op de N379-1. Na 3.3 kilometer, in Cascais da Serra, slaan we linksaf OP EEN GRINDWEG.
