Het Padrão da Memória (Herinneringsmonument) is een monument voor de eerste poging van Pedro's liberale troepen om aan land te gaan bij de monding van de rivier de Ave op 8 juli 1832.
Deze poging werd verijdeld door de weigering van brigadier Cardoso de Menezes, gouverneur van het fort van São João Baptista, waardoor de ongeveer zes dozijn boten verder zuidwaarts moesten varen om een tweede poging te doen. Nadat ze door de dennenbossen ten zuiden van de Ave waren gevaren, landden ze uiteindelijk in Pampelido. Deze duizenden liberalen kregen de bijnaam "Bravos do Mindelo".
Op de zuil staan de historische woorden die André Silva uitsprak: "Soldados! Aquelas praias são as do malfadado Portugal" ("Soldaten! Dat zijn de stranden van het noodlottige Portugal".)
