Wat Huai Luek in Mae Tan Historische Stad heeft geen historische bewijs van zijn oprichting. Toch suggereert de architectonische stijl van de gebouwen en artefacten dat deze tempel is opgericht in de Lan Na-periode in de 15e eeuw. De site toont een vergaderhal (vihara) met een stupa erachter. Er zijn ook sporen van een grensmuur. De site is slechts gedeeltelijk opgegraven in het jaar 2018 en er zijn geen restauraties uitgevoerd. De ruïne is vernoemd naar de stroom Huai Luek in het gebied die uitmondt in de Moei-rivier.
