Ardahan is een provincie in het uiterste noordoosten van Turkije. De provincie is 5576 km² groot en had 112.721 inwoners bij de volkstelling van 2007. Hoofdstad is het gelijknamige Ardahan.
De bevolking van Ardahan daalt in een rap tempo. Veel families emigreren vanuit het platteland naar de grotere steden vanwege economische redenen. Het platteland van Ardahan loopt leeg. Desondanks woont nog een meerderheid van de bevolking op het platteland. Slechts 41% van de bevolking van Ardahan woont in steden: hierdoor is Ardahan de provincie met een van de laagste urbanisatiegraad van heel Turkije. De bevolking daalt in zes districten, terwijl de hoofdstad Ardahan en omgeving met 1,25% per jaar groeit. De districten met de grootste bevolkingsdaling in procenten zijn Damal en Hanak . De districten Posof , Çıldır en Göle verliezen ook een groot deel van hun bevolking.
