De Kalyan Minaret is ook bekend als "de toren van de dood" omdat de mensen die ter dood veroordeeld werden (vroeger!) vanaf de top van de minaret geworpen werden. De Kalyan Minaret dateert uit 1127. De Kalyan minaret werd gebouwd door Arslan-khan en is het belangrijkste symbool van de heilige Bukhara. Het is gemaakt van bakstenen en is 45.5 meter hoogte. Op de grond heeft de minaret een diameter van 9 meter, bovenaan 6 meter. De cilinder wordt bekroond met een rotonde met 16 ramen. De minaret is gekoppeld aan de Kaylan moskee via een kleine brug. Via 105 treden komt je tot aan de rotonde.
