The source area of the Koude Beek is located in the municipality of Hove. Originally, the stream had its source at the church of Hove, but in the course of time the source area has shifted about 100 meters to the vicinity of the Fruithout castle domain.
This open space area, which consisted of fields and grassland, was transformed into a landscape park in 2017. A project for which the municipalities of Hove and Boechout, vzw Kempens Landschap and the province of Antwerp joined forces. Among other things, a large amphibian pool was constructed, the Koude Beek was given a new meandering course and space was made for walking and cycling paths. Many trees and shrubs have been planted and a large play hill will be set up for the children. The layout of the Koude Beek will give the Koude Beek more space, which will reduce the risk of flooding upstream.
