At the extension of Kasteelstraat lies an avenue of white horse chestnuts that is part of the layout of the castle estate of Marnix van Sint-Aldegonde. The unpaved avenue runs through the plantings of Canadian poplars and ends at the castle by the Oude Schelde. A rejuvenation planting of summer oak was carried out in the avenue. The castle avenue provides the direct connection between the castle and the village center and leads to the parish church.
