Description

The Scheldt lakes of Zevergem-Schelderode are one of the few remnants of a contiguous lake landscape in the Scheldt valley. The area is characterized by the alternation of lakes, cut-off meanders, poplar plantations and grassland plots divided by ditches. The alluvial clay deposited in the Scheldt valley was mined by the brickyards in the area, leaving clay pits in the landscape.
