The anchorage 'Valley of the Grote Nete around the Herenbossen' is located on the territory of the municipalities of Hulshout and Heist op den Berg in the Zuiderkempen and more or less corresponds to the open space between the residential areas of Hulshout and Booischot. Traditionally, the landscape was dominated by meadows along the Grote Nete and the Steenkensbeek and an elongated forest structure just north of the Nete. Today, we still recognize these beautifully preserved meadows, the elongated forest structure and the strongly winding course of the Steenkensbeek as the most important witnesses of this historic landscape. The architectural heritage, concentrated near the Grote Nete and the connecting road between Hulshout and Booischot, with the beautiful domain of Hof ter Laken, the Mac Adamhoeve, the farm 't Bergske, the milestone Toreke, the former bridge keeper's house and the like, contributes to the high historical and amenity value of this landscape.
