Former chapel, since 1923 parish church where St. Blaise is venerated. Simple, oriented hall church located on Ieperstraat. To the west, a grassy square with a central church path bordered by linden trees. A 15th-century place of worship destroyed during World War I; some wall sections in the choir and transept were preserved. Reconstruction at the request of architects G. Veraart and E. Richir (Brussels) in 1921. Imitative variant of the pre-war late Gothic chapel, except for the widening and extension of the nave, the addition of a semi-circular turret against the north façade, the gables of the north aisle, the disappearance of the south sacristy, and the introduction of more decorative elements. Floor plan: a two-aisled nave of three bays, a semi-circular northern turret, a transept with a southern arm of one bay, a choir of one straight bay with three-sided closure, and a northern sacristy. Dark red anchored brick construction above a similar base. Use of yellow brick for masonry signs, including the coat of arms of the Bulteel family, former lords of the Klijte, and profiled frames of pointed arch windows with tracery. Slate gable roofs; wooden bell tower at the crossing. Facades including gable ends with wall weaving, supported by cut buttresses, tapering at the corners into pinnacles. Basket-arch west portal in a profiled frame under a continuous drip edge. Atmospheric interior. Pointed arched ribbed arches on brick columns. Angular, wooden barrel vault, painted with stylized floral and liturgical motifs (fig. 27), (81, 82).
