The LVR-Niederrheinmuseum Wesel (formerly Preußen-Museum Nordrhein-Westfalen Wesel) has found its place in the former grain magazine (grain magazine) of the Wesel fortress citadel. The grain magazine was built in the 30s of the 19th century. Only the basement still has the old vault structure, while the two upper floors were greatly altered after the Second World War and have now been redesigned into large-scale spatial units in the exhibition area.
The LVR-Niederrheinmuseum Wesel is a historical and cultural-historical museum that looks at the history of the Lower Rhine in close connection with the neighbouring Dutch areas and in the interactions with Europe. The current permanent exhibition focuses on the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period and covers the innovative cultural and economic area of the "Lower Rhineland", which includes East Dutch, Flemish and Brabant areas.
