The water tower in Boskoop was designed by architect Jan Schotel and was built in 1908. The water tower had a height of 32.5 meters and a water reservoir of 150 m³. It was popularly known as 'The top hat'.
A strongly resembling water tower in complete condition is the New Water Tower of Den Helder. A third water tower by architect Schotel was the tower of Weesp, but this was demolished in 1970.
