Museum Oold Ark contains an enormous collection of tools and implements from the previous century. Old Ark literally means: Old tools. The collection was created and described by Albert Mulder. Recently, a very special collection was added to this collection: during the construction of a viaduct between Oosterwolde and Makkiga, various flint tools from the Old Stone Age were found. This brought a lot more "older ark" into the museum.
The museum is housed in the grain mill De Weijert in Makkinga. On Saturdays the mill can also be seen working, several volunteers have been trained as millers and keep the tradition alive.
