The Julier Pass connects Engadin (Silvaplana) and Graubünden (Tiefencastel). The pass height is at 2,284 m and the length of the pass is 43 km. The condition of the road is very good, the pavement is wide, and the curves are well engineered throughout the entire route (the road is also kept driveable in winter). The closer you get to the top, the more rugged and expansive the landscape becomes. The pass has been used since Roman times and at the highest point, there are two Roman columns on either side of the road.
