The Three Cornflowers

Molen De Drie Koornbloemen dates back to 1770 and is thus the oldest still-existing distillery mill in Schiedam. Unique to Schiedam is the miller's house connected to the mill. The mill has the remnants of a hulling system that was used for hulling rice, among other things. Other remnants in the interior clearly show that distillery mills often switched to other activities in the later years of the gin industry when those brought in more money. The mill is managed by the foundation De Schiedamse Molens and has recently undergone a large-scale maintenance overhaul in which both the structure and the wooden components were addressed.
