N-630

Another of the great national routes that traverse Spain, in this case the N-630 known as "The Silver Route." It runs from Seville to Gijón. From the port of Seville (here I have started it at the Torre del Oro in Seville for being more emblematic) to the port of Gijón (also I have ended it at the monument called "the Letronas").
Its history, like that of almost all communication routes that exist in Spain, dates back to the one used by Roman troops to advance north.
In the time of Emperor Augustus and especially during the reigns of Emperor Trajan and Hadrian, it was already configured as a Roman road that initially connected Emerita Augusta (Mérida) with Asturica Augusta (Astorga), and continued along the “XXIII, Iter ab Ostio Fluminis Anae Emeritam Usque” to Seville in the south and to Gijón.
It crosses 4 autonomous communities and passes through the cities of Seville, Zafra, Almendralejo, Mérida, Cáceres, Plasencia, Béjar, Salamanca, Zamora, Benavente, León, Mieres, Oviedo, and Gijón.
It runs parallel for many kilometers to the A-66 (autovía ruta de la plata).
From Oviedo to Gijón, it changes its name from N-630 to AS-266.
Being a long route, it is recommended to use GPS, and the stops or nights will be at each person's discretion.
