We begin our tour at point 20, near the Boshuisje and the visitor center. The Boshuisje, a former hunting lodge, was built shortly after 1800. After World War I, it became known as the location from Hendrik Conscience's novel 'Der Loteling'. Although the Loteling itself was not a real person, it is clear that Conscience set his story in the Boshuisje.
The hike leads through the nature reserve Zoerselbos and Hooidonkse Beemden, a splendid section of nature. You will also pass by the Zoerselhof.
The Zoerselhof, founded in 1790 as an abbey of the Cistercians, has experienced a varied history, including serving as a residence for Antwerp children, boarding house, hotel-restaurant, and finally as a castle.
