The route starts in Gennep with its beautiful old center. The route leads in a clockwise direction towards the region of Nijmegen. You climb the Sint Jansberg and then head towards Germany along a beautifully situated path on the western edge of the Reichswald. Briefly, you return to the Netherlands before landing back in Germany. You cycle through the German polders on wonderfully quiet paths to the Altrhein and then to the Rhine, with some kilometers also riding along the Rhine dike. You cross the Rhine at Emmerich and after leaving Emmerich, the roads quickly become quiet again.

You head towards the Netherlands and climb the Eltenberg-oost. Near Lobith, you follow the Rhine, sometimes over separate cycle paths on the dike. You cross the Pannerdensch Canal via the Doornenburg - Pannerden ferry and ride briefly along the Linge river and the beautiful Doornenburg castle.

Afterwards, you follow the course of the Waal to Nijmegen, over the Waaldijk, sometimes over separate cycle paths. In Nijmegen, you cross the Waal bridge towards Berg and Dal. You climb the Poldersveldtweg and ride over the Zevenheuvelenweg towards Groesbeek and Bisselt. You cycle down the Zevendal and via Middelaar towards the Maas. Finally, you return to Gennep while cycling along the stream Niers.

Be aware that it can sometimes be difficult to assess on your navigation device's map whether to follow the dike or descend down the slope to the river itself. The latter is the case, for example, when you ride from Lent to the Waal bridge. Additionally, there is a ferry along the way, the Pannerden - Doornenburg ferry.
