GR 129 Across Belgium | GR 5A Circular Walk from Flanders
18.3 km | Shortcut possibility in Ver-Assebroek (11.7 km)
This hike takes you along the GR 129 and GR 5A through the sand region east of Bruges. After crossing the quiet Gent-Brugge-Ostende canal at Beernem, you will walk through wide fields and quiet avenues to the Assebroekse Meersen. An old railway embankment brings you to the edge of Bruges. Via the Begijnenvest and the romantic Minnewater, you reach the train station, but nothing prevents you from entering the beautiful downtown to grab something to drink and eat.
WARNING: There is a temporary detour around Gevaerts Nord in Beernem. An upset neighbor blocks the way (on one hand with signs, on the other with verbal outbursts against the hikers). Please follow the marked detour. The GPX file has been adjusted.
