The Reest has a height difference of only 5 meters over a distance of more than 30 kilometers, and the width of the Reest valley averages 100 meters. The moor river originates in the former moor areas near Lutten. Around De Wijk, we see a number of beautiful estates and old farms on both sides of the Reest.
By the way, the Reest valley still hosts many special plant species. The cowslip, as well as rarities such as the great burnet, the northern reed, and the marsh calcium leaf, are present.
