Discover all benefitsWhen this tour was mapped out, there were road works in Lubbeek and a part of the bicycle network had been diverted. Junction 22 was moved. With the detour you cycle from the church of Lubbeek into the Broekstraat. On the normal route, follow Binkomstraat. In both cases direction junction 22. Because we find the redirect more interesting, we recommend following it even when the works are over. To do so, follow the text on this sheet. Meet at the parking lot at the roundabout of Dorpskring at the church of Lubbeek (V). Cycle opposite the church into the Broekstraat, direction junction 22. You drive past the hull of the mill Moiné (1), the end agglomeration sign of Lubbeek and the Patrijshoeve (Zwartbont Holstein Fokbedrijf) (2). At the crossroads at the end of Broekstraat, with the moved junction 22, turn right towards junction 96. Then turn right into Molendries and then left onto Waaibergweg on2. You climb through a hollow road and cycle past some houses. At the end, at the T-junction, follow Spicht to the right until the T-junction (here is normally junction 22). • Now follow the Wauwerdries to the left. You cycle on a narrow concrete road with beautiful views to the fork at junction 96. Turn right, direction junction 23. After a short climb you can enjoy a 360° panorama. At the first fork turn right and still follow the Wauwerdries through an open agricultural landscape to the T-junction on the Grotendries. Right. Turn left with the road and cycle past a few houses. At the next fork, turn left and cycle over the Sint-Gertrudendries between loose buildings and fields, over sometimes half-hollow roads and several speed bumps. Ignore all side roads, cycle past the entrance of the Gertrudenhof (3) and turn left at the T-junction. • With a bend you come to the Tiensesteenweg. Cross it carefully and continue cycling through the Peerdsweidestraat, a wide concrete road with orchards on the left and a large farm in the back right. At the intersection with junction 23, continue straight ahead, towards junction 77. Orchards on the left, fields on the right. Belgian white-blue At a beautiful tree chapel with the poem Orchards by Ina Stabergh, you end up in the bend of another road. Follow the wide concrete road straight ahead between the orchards, ignore the Kiezegemstraat on the left and turn right onto the narrow concrete road just before the agglomeration sign of Sint-JorisWinge. You cycle towards the forest through a beautiful field landscape with beautiful views. Ignore the Walebroekstraat on the right at the edge of the forest and the road to Bremberg on the left. It runs next to the Bremberghoeve, where you can buy beef of the Belgian white-blue breed. Continue cycling through the agricultural landscape until you reach the T-junction at the end of the Bronstraat at junction 77. Turn left, direction junction 76. • 50 meters further you turn right into the Hazelaarsstraat and cycle past a large orchard. Then turn left into Woubeekstraat and continue cycling past another orchard and then through a field landscape with an impressive 360° panorama. At the T-junction you are at junction 76. Turn left, direction junction 74. You now cycle on a slightly higher dotted line cycle path, next to a wide concrete road. Turn right further into Kraasbeekstraat and continue cycling between the separate buildings. At the first intersection turn left until the busy Leuvensesteenweg. Cross it carefully and continue cycling along the Kastanjeweg. • At the first fork, keep right and start a tough climb through a hollow road. When you come out, you see a beautiful open landscape. Ignore a road on the left and cycle past a large modern farm. At the junction next you choose left and immediately afterwards you do that again at the crossroads at the SintDonatus chapel (1869) (4). You cycle along the Oude Leuvensebaan, past the Goedhuishoeve and further between the vast fields with impressive views. At junction 74 you cycle straight ahead, towards junction 97. Then turn right onto the first side road and continue cycling next to an orchard and then between the fields. • Turn left with the road and cycle past an orchard again. Then it continues undulating between loose buildings until you come to the bend of a priority road. Follow it straight on the dotted cycle path, direction Houwaart. Don't worry about side roads. The best café in Lubbeek After 1.5 km you arrive at the busy Aarschotsesteenweg. Cross it via the bicycle bag and continue cycling along the Troostembergbos on the other side. Ignore the drive on the right to the castle of the Troostemberg and continue cycling to junction 97. Turn right, direction junction 98. After a short cobblestone strip, turn right again. Continue cycling through the open landscape and turn left further into the Houwaartsebaan. Then follow Peerse to the right. After a tough climb you will arrive at junction 98. Turn left, direction junction 99. • After a few houses you will arrive at junction 99. Note! The sign is somewhat hidden between the bushes. Turn left, direction junction 20. You still follow the Galgenbergstraat and after a nice part you come to the Houwaartsebaan, which you follow to the right to the intersection with a priority road. To the right on the corner is a small brick chapel. Turn left, on a dotted line cycle path along a wide concrete road. You cycle past a large semi-open stable, cross the intersection with the Schubbeekstraat and continue to follow Roth. You drive past the name sign of Lubbeek and then turn right into kroonstraat. Follow it between the fields to the end. Turn left, on a tiled bike path along a wide concrete road. • You pass tavern 't Lanterreke, voted best café in Lubbeek in 2015 (open from 12 noon, closed on Tuesdays) and then come to the busy Staatsbaan. Cross it and continue cycling between Happyland and its car park until junction 20 with a brick chapel on the corner. Turn right, direction junction 84. You cycle between the loose buildings and choose on the left at the first fork. Through a green tunnel Climb gently through the Ledigheidweg, ignore a dead end road on the left and then cycle left into the rising Baybosweg. Look back from this narrow concrete road and enjoy the panorama. At the end at the T-junction turn right until the next T. Follow the Korte Herendaalstraat to the left until the crossroads. Turn right, over a wide concrete road to Plein, a priority road with a mandatory stop. Cross it and continue cycling through the Molenstraat. The road is hollow at first. Then you drive past farm 't Gasthuishof (5), which is located in the back and is now a white-blue farm. • Continue cycling to the edge of the forest and follow it through a hollow road, which looks like a green tunnel, until you reach a cobblestone road. Turn left until you reach junction 84. Cycle left into the hollow, rising Meistraat, towards junction 85. When the road is no longer hollow, you continue cycling between fields and meadows and then between the loose buildings until you reach the busy Lostraat. Cross it and take the Slijkstraat immediately left. You cycle past the agglomeration sign of Pellenberg and further on at junction 85. Continue straight ahead, direction junction 67. • At the end of the Slijkstraat, turn left and cycle past the municipal school. Cross two intersections in succession, the second with a mandatory stop sign, cycle past parish center St. Peter's and climb out of Pellenberg past a house from 1916. At a crossroads you cycle with a right-left nod into Herendaal and you drive past the Herendaelhof (6). At 't Hoeveke, a white building, you cycle straight ahead and leave a street on the right. Immediately after, you ignore another one on the left. Continue cycling through the beautiful landscape until you reach the junction with junction 67. Turn left towards junction 21. Ignore all side roads, keep left at the fork and cycle up to the priority road. Follow it to the right until you reach the departure point at the church of Lubbeek.
