Description by the author

Appointment to the church of Vollezele (V), district of Galmaarden. Vollezele is located in the southwest corner of Pajottenland, in a quiet and slightly hilly agricultural landscape with countless beautiful views. In the large closed hooves, many award-winning Belgian draft horses have emerged. With your back to the entrance to the classical St. Paul's Church (1776), you continue straight into the Steenstraat and after 75 m you walk left into the narrow path next to house number 3. The landscape is immediately vast, green and calm. The path will soon widen. At house number 9, you walk straight on another narrow road. At the end of the road, turn left, after 100 m, cross the Repingenstraat and continue straight into the Ezelveldstraat. After 300 m leave the Gaubergstraat and after 300 m skip the Errebekstraat. Take a few meters further left, next to a rest bench with crucifix, but narrow path (Stiltepad Oost sign). At the end of the road, walk right on a one-lane concrete road. After 400 m, just opposite the Errebekstraat, take a country road on the left, always the Stiltepad Oost. It takes you to the Oulstberg, the highest point of the hike (±100 m) with beautiful views. In front of you at the end is the Bosberg. At the end of the road, a few houses, turn right and on the concrete road again on the right, still with the sign Stiltepad Oost. At the T-junction, walk left onto Congobergstraat, now in the direction of Stiltepad Zuid. After 600 m you will arrive at the impressive closed farm Hof ten Berg 1 from 1771 and just after the farm is a beautiful and large pond with many water birds between the yellow lily, the small plomp and the water lily. Ignore the Eesbeekstraat on the right and walk a few hundred meters further left into the Eggestraat. After just over a kilometre you will pass the Hof te Tasseniers 2 from the 17th and 18th centuries and has been protected as a monument since 2009. Ignore the Damstraat on the right and continue straight on the Tasseniersstraat. 500 m further to house number 24 (WW II plane crash commemorative plaque) you go sharply to the left. The path becomes narrow and then crosses the field (Stiltepad Zuid panel). Beyond the field, the road turns right and soon passes between lakes and pollard willows. Cross the Beverbeek and climb the concrete road to the top of the T-junction. After 50 m, you are at Sint-Leonarduskapel 3, with a commemorative plaque crashed American plane. Walk 100 m past the chapel on the left into the Ketelbaan. On the Nemerkendries, with a chapel from 1716 under a maple tree, you go sharply left and then immediately right on a wide field road. At the end of the now narrow path, you turn left onto the paved road. Leave the Gaubergstraat and continue straight on the Crijnemstraat. You will arrive here in the Dender-Mark Zone of Silence, a pilot project from 2002 to preserve the tranquility of the area. A little further on, you are at Hof Terhaegen 4 from 1800, another large enclosed farmhouse, with an impressive bluestone commemorative plaque for Belgian draft horses next to the front door. 200 m after the Hof Terhaegen, where the paved road turns slightly to the right, you turn left onto a narrow field road (Walgraeve hiking trail sign). Continue straight on the paved road and then cross Repingestraat. Walk next to the chapel O.-L.-V.-5 under an old linden tree in the Bakkerstraat. On the left you can still see the Foulon Farm 6. Stroll along the wide concrete road with a beautiful row of oak, ash and linden trees to the church on both sides. You can also see an old bluestone pillory and a miner's bust.
