This route takes you through the Dwingelderveld National Park. You start at the Brink of Dwingeloo, where you will find enough restaurants, hotels, a bakery, and a supermarket.
Under the influence of changing climatic conditions, such as the penultimate Ice Age, a soil with many stones, boulders, gravel, and sand was formed in the national park. The clay and loam covers make the area so special: rare and endangered flora and fauna can settle in this area. The extensive wet heathlands of Dwingelderveld are the largest and best developed in Western Europe. Wet hollows and dry sand ridges alternate. This route is ideal for anyone looking to relax in the tranquility and vastness of Drenthe.
