Over the centuries, the River Maas has sculpted a versatile and fascinating landscape in Limburg. There was a jumble of old stream channels, cut-off meanders, dikes and floodplains and a typical fauna and flora. Historic towns and striking villages bear witness to a past intertwined with the Meuse.

Put on your walking shoes and discover the new cross-border (touristic recreational) nature reserve Rivierpark Maasvallei yourself via this multi-day walk. The municipality of Sittard-Geleen is also partly located in the River Park Maasvallei, such as the fishing villages Grevenbicht and Obbicht.

From Sittard there is a special approach route that takes you to the middle of the River Park . So start the LAW River Park Maasvallei from Sittard and end it at the historic market for a snack and drink.

You can start from multiple places. If you come by car, park directly under the market, or at Limbricht Castle and start your route there. If you come by train, you can start from the train station in Sittard.
