From clay pit to stage for Tomorrowland: this Brick Route is full of stories and surprises. For seven centuries, life in the Rupel region revolved around the brick industry. The local clay soil proved particularly suitable for the production of bricks, roof tiles, and tiles. Today, the Rupel region offers gems of industrial archaeology. In the museums, former workers' neighborhoods, and well-preserved brick factory sites, the past comes to life. There is also plenty of water and greenery along the Brick Route. Riding a bike on the car-free dike roads/trails of Rupel and Schelde is delightful. In the abandoned clay pits, nature was given free rein.
