Canal guidance

As the name suggests, with this route you cycle along the harbor canal towards Brussels. The starting point is Oppuurs, but other places are of course possible. This route was specifically planned so that we can cross the busy N16 with bike underpasses twice without having to ride over it. From Oppuurs, we follow the railway tracks towards Bornem and go underneath the N16 towards Hingene and Wintam. Here, we cycle over the large ship lift and then travel between the harbor canal and the Rupel to Boom. This section leads through a beautiful nature reserve. In Boom, we cross the harbor canal again and continue along traffic-calmed rural roads through Ruisbroek (Sauvegarde). Afterwards, we go back under the N16 to take the inner roads along the N17 again, heading towards the Fort of Liezele. Finally, we reach Oppuurs again.
