Farm De Knotwilg/Hof van 't Gruuthuuse route

The gently undulating landscape in and around Tielt invites you to a wonderful bike ride. You certainly experience that Tielt is a 'city in the know' while cycling. Tielt is located on a cuesta, a ridge. The gently undulating landscape shows a rural character where agricultural greenery dominates. The 'Plateau van Tielt' is a historically very strong agricultural area. Some proud mills are remnants of this glorious agricultural past. But even today, agriculture is very important in the Tielt region. This has everything to do with the very fertile sandy loam soil. Mainly vegetables and potatoes are grown there. But because of the combination with intensive pig farming, we can certainly speak of a flourishing and diversified agriculture in Tielt. Get to know our farms and enjoy the suddenly emerging beautiful panoramas and the wonderful nature to the fullest!

The Hoeve De Knotwilg/Hof van 't Gruuthuuse route was developed as part of 'Ferme Vélo - GPS treasure hunt in the countryside'. These are educational and adventurous cycling routes that can only be followed with the GPS. During these routes we put agriculture in the spotlight. Ferme Vélo is an initiative of Inagro. Thanks to Leader Tielts Plateau, Inagro can make use of West Flemish, Flemish and European subsidies for this.
