Troia és una ciutat tant històrica com llegendària, on es va desenvolupar la Guerra de Troia, descrita a la Ilíada, un poema èpic de l'Antiga Grècia. L'autoria d'aquest poema s'atribueix al poeta Homer, que el degué compondre al voltant del segle IX o VIII aC, encara que conté material més antic. Homer també fa referència a Troia en L'Odissea. La llegenda homèrica de Troia va ser continuada pel poeta romà Virgili a l'Eneida. Les ruïnes de Troia foren declarades Patrimoni de la Humanitat per la UNESCO el 1998.
La ciutat de Troia estigué habitada des de la primera meitat del mil·lenni III aC, però el seu moment de major esplendor coincidí amb l'auge de l'Imperi Hitita.
