Exciting tour through an extraordinary forest area. Hikers will not encounter any exotic animals in this primeval forest. But roaming through the landscape, which has been allowed to develop without human influence for over 10 years, will make every hiker curious to return. Attention: in some sections, walking the route can be made more difficult by trees lying across the primeval forest area.

The primeval forest tour leads through the southern part of the "primeval forest at the gates of the city", which covers a total of 1,011 hectares. Since 2002, this area has been allowed to develop into a natural ecosystem largely uninfluenced by humans and released from forestry management. The trail leads through a fascinating nature experience and is characterized by constantly changing forest scenery: lively rippling streams, small forest lakes, uprooted trees, swampy marshy landscapes and a charming relief - the primeval forest tour meanders through this increasingly adventurous and natural terrain and provides entertaining hiking fun, especially for younger explorers. A green oasis in an intensively used environment, right on the outskirts of Saarbrücken.The Forsthaus Neuhaus with the NABU Forest Experience Center is recommended as a starting and finishing point. Alternative starting point possible from the Saarbahn stop "Heinrichshaus" via a 300 m long access path.
