The HARZGERÖDER KUGELsPASS is awarded with the quality seal WANDERBARES DEUTSCHLAND in the thematic orientation CULTURAL EXPERIENCE.

Two playgrounds and 8 stations provide a lot of fun and interaction with their marble runs for all hiking enthusiasts. Additionally, there are extensive information in word and image on the steles, complemented by audio stations that encourage listening in multiple languages (German for adults, German for children, Russian, Danish, English, Chinese). The HARZGERÖDER KUGELsPASS also includes 2 stations of the HARZER WANDERNADEL.

Nature, mining, craftsmanship, and the Selke Valley Railway have played important roles in the successful development of the Harz-Harz region Selke Valley and have shaped the present. Today, beechwood balls set everything in motion - imparting knowledge in the great outdoors and having fun discovering everything yourself! Typical of Harzgerode, always a well-rounded experience!

Route Description

Starting at Station 1 with the first playground, the trail leads out of the city center towards Teufelsteich to an initial plateau reaching Station 2 with views near and far. Along the way, there are ancient gnarled trees with cavities that provide habitat for a variety of animals. After Stations 3 and 4, follow the path near Teufelsteich towards Birnbaumteich, where surrounded by primeval nature, you reach Stations 5 and 6. Then, you pass the dam of Birnbaumteich and hike through the section dominated by mixed forest and dense undergrowth, which features the stamping point Hellergrund of the Harzer Wandernadel, before Station 7, like all previous stations, once again inspires hikers for interaction. Passing through the second stamping point of the Harzer Wandernadel at the mouth of the Glasebach Tunnel, you reach Station 8, the Glasebach Straßberg Mining Museum with the second playground.
