Düsseldorf-Garath to Monheim am Rhein
We start in Garath and walk along the meandering Garather Mühlenbach towards the Rhine. We quickly reach the Urdenbacher Kämpe, a top-class nature reserve: an old Rhine arm, diverse flora and fauna, pristine orchards, and as a highlight Haus Bürgel - information center, museum, distillery, built on the walls of a Roman fort from the 4th century.
Behind Haus Bürgel, we reach Father Rhine and walk along the riverside promenade to reach Monheim am Rhein. The Piwipper Böötchen beckons for a short trip to the other side of the Rhine. Or would you prefer to have a beer in the Monheimer Old Town on the Kölsch/Altbier border? We continue our hike through the Rheinbogen (Cologne already greets from the opposite side of the Rhine!) and end the stage at Gut Blee.
